James Neal
Product & UX Designer

I came to design the long way. I spent nearly a decade teaching English including four years in China where I barely spoke the language. Living without reliable interfaces forced me to notice good design in a way you can't learn in a classroom.

I pivoted to UX during the pandemic, graduated top of my cohort, and went on to work at Infosys WongDoody and made my way through RISD's Strategic Agency Program. Along the way I picked up a Lovie Award Gold and a Webby Award nomination for a human rights project that taught me what design looks like when the stakes are real.

I specialize in complex systems, the kind where the problem isn't obvious, the users are varied, and the solution requires understanding the whole before touching any part of it. I've audited Fortune 500 telecom platforms, designed AI support tools for enterprise engineers, and redesigned onboarding flows for Fortune 100 firms.

I'm based in Cranston, Rhode Island and open to senior UX and product design roles.
